Ted A. Beattie Govt Leadership Development Software

On behalf of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums board of directors and AZA workers, it is each a qualified and particular honor to announce the renaming of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums leadership progress initiative to the Ted A. Beattie Executive Leadership Development Software.

As AZA President and Main Executive Officer Dan Ashe talked about at the 2023 Directors Plan Conference, “Ted was a fully commited advocate for professional enhancement, he noticed the probable impression ELDP could have on the zoological neighborhood. He envisioned it as a route to recognize, help, and advance the up coming generation of world wide zoo and aquarium local community leaders. I would say his eyesight is staying realized.”

Ted’s son Sean, who serves as a vice president at the Countrywide Aquarium in Baltimore, Md., shared the family’s deep appreciation of the honor. “Thanks to the AZA board and staff for this fitting recognition of our dad’s lifelong influence to an marketplace he beloved. Also, Ted’s wife Jill Beach front Beattie shared, “From the minute we met, Ted normally pointed out how very pleased he was of assisting emerging leaders advance in their occupations, especially the 14 zoo and aquarium administrators who worked for him. I am appreciative that AZA has acknowledged his lifelong commitment to skilled growth with this naming.”

Ted knew the long term of our neighborhood would only prosper if our corporations had powerful, knowledgeable, and visionary administrators and for virtually 40 years, he committed his time, talent, and treasure to building a new era of zoological leaders. No matter of one’s profession stage, or what zoological firm they worked for, Ted generally shared his experience in government leadership and assisted hundreds of AZA colleagues progress in their job.  

“It was an incredible honor and privilege to know Ted.  As did so quite a few throughout our profession, I uncovered so much from him.  About leadership, and in unique, about main with coronary heart.  About power, but also about kindness.  I will often recall his smile.  I can not believe of quite a few men and women that have experienced the impression he experienced on our profession, and on me,” shared Dr. Jackie Ogden.

Previous Director of the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, Sick., and longtime buddy of Ted, Kevin Bell, shared, “In 2014, a modest team of zoo and aquarium directors and consultants satisfied to explore skilled advancement, which Ted to start with addressed when he was the AZA board chair. Although we talked about creating a leadership progress program in the future, Ted explained the potential is now and ELDP was established. Of all his achievements, this was Ted’s proudest.
